“Cancer is the term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide with out control and are able to invade other tissues “
There are more than 100 different types of Cancer…..
So on Halloween day there was a team of 5 that brought Joy and smiles to the kids at the Santa Monica UCLA Hospital it was their day set aside the pain and the battle they at least got to forget about it for at least a couple hrs on my end I always try to put myself in their shoes but it doesn’t compare these kids are angels and are True Heroes and they inspire me Oscar my friend who is undergoing chemo for the 3rd time had this awesome idea to set up a photo booth and have treats and candy for the kids he organized 2 MUA’s to help with face painting and a photographer to help capture the moments but the moments that we experienced were like no other and it was amazing these kids managed to smile and put aside their worries just to be kids that they are meant to be ….
I never really understood cancer until someone close to you is affected by it and sad to say that its very common and people are loosing the battle to it , but when its little kids that have no understanding or sense of what it is , its really not fair and it was very hard to keep a straight face in front of them , I can only Imagine the pain and heartache of the parents Oscar told me that its an everyday struggle and the battle is hard and gets even harder …
What was very comforting to know and to see is that the Staff at UCLA Santa Monica was so nice and each one of them have such an important job to do and these kids love them and they take so much pride in these kids god bless the staff and the whole day we got nothing but thank you’s and your all awesome for doing this !!!
You figure that by the end of the Day everyone goes home and they feel good about themselves but I am 100% positive that these kids all had a huge impact on life and we went about our days feeling perhaps more empty cause I speak for myself I want to go back and visit them more often and really get to know them , we are blessed and lucky that we have our health and we get to go home to our families but these Angels the hospital is their home the families make it thier home , I went home and hugged my kids longer and kissed them to death and I prayed for these kids to beat the Cancer as well as for my friend Oscar sometimes I don’t think I tell him enough that he’s gonna beat and that he’s gonna be ok but that’s the power of prayer I know he will be ok ….
Oscar if your reading this I know your going ok because you are doing so much right for these kids and your community your spreading the knowledge through your Book and there is just so much for you to do …..
“You only live once, but if you do it right once is enough”
Thank you Oscar, Irene , Elaina , Vallerie , Jackie
Would like to thank Veronica’s Mom who made these adorable beanie hats for the kids
There is a “can” in CANCER because we can beat it……
And if there is anyone that is going through the battle right now is is a survivor do what you can to help other because it can be just a simple hello you need anything or you want to talk , give them words to keep going you need to help them to not give up because that is not an option keep fighting once twice or three times how many times it takes keep going …
Thank you for reading Calipso xoxo…
Omg Calipso :,( you totally made me cry, very beautifully written and it brought me back to this day, I cannot stop thinking of these angels since the moment we stepped out side of that hospital, there’s definitely a lot more that we can all do, my respect to all the nurse who are simply amazing!
